Recycled sari cloths are color matched in the color ranges of blue, green, purple, pink, or neutrals. They are then machine washed and torn into strips and machine sewn together into longer strips, which are then wrapped into balls of fabric and hand knitted on a peg loom and finished with binding the edges and adding a personalized label.
This style of peg looming was created to give women opportunities to learn
new techniques, particularly those who find the kantha technique difficult.
It takes approximately 4 hours to make one chunky knit throw.
- Size: approx 55" x 50" (varies slightly as each is one of a kind and hand stitched)
- Material: vintage cotton
- Dry cleaning is recommended to maintain the vibrant color and texture of your cotton kantha product.
Basha. Where your purchase changes lives & builds futures.
Through dignified work, Basha provides a sustainable livelihood for women at risk and survivors of trafficking. Women gain job skills and the opportunity to develop into leaders and entrepreneurs in a healthy, healing environment. Each woman’s story varies, but for each her circumstances have put her at high risk of harm or resulted in her exploitation. We work with employees’ children too, ensuring the cycle of poverty and victimization is broken.
